Information and Provision

From January 2017 Western Primary School is delighted to offer nursery provision for two year olds.

We offer a varied and sensory curriculum in a dedicated early years setting.  By offering a key worker system, parents have a dedicated point of contact and are reassured that their children are well cared for and encouraged to learn through their play.

By using the online learning journal Tapestry throughout nursery parents, have daily access and updates to their child’s learning and interests.

From 3 years, nursery children are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery education per week.  You may have your entitlement in a combination of ways, most of which are detailed in the information below.  In addition we are able to provide the option of extra sessions and provision for which there will be a charge.

We have found that children benefit most when they receive constant sessions as detailed below.  Children who have taken just one or two sessions or who have had sessions at opposite ends of the week, have found it hard to settle and make friends.

We are happy to discuss your particular requirements with you if the attached options do not meet your requirements.

In order to be able to organise our provision and staffing arrangements, we need a definite commitment from parents as to their requirements. This can only be done using our booking form which is a legal requirement.  Payments MUST be made at the beginning of each half term.  By agreeing to care for your child we are undertaking a financial commitment and if your child does not attend the session we may still charge e.g. holidays taken in term time or absence due to short term illness.  In exceptional circumstances, such as bereavement or long term illness extending beyond a week, Western may exercise its discretion as to whether a charge will be made.  Once a booking is made for a term, this commitment must be honoured and any cancellation will be subject to payment of fees for that half term.  If parents continue to use the service after the period covered by their signed application form, they will be taken to have accepted that the same conditions still apply for each subsequent term unless a change is agreed in writing.
