After a successful first year of our 1-2-1 iPad scheme in KS2, we are excited to announce that this scheme will be extended to KS1 from September 2020.
The KS2 scheme has been an enormous success, with a huge positive impact on the children’s engagement with learning. It has really sparked and inspired their curiosity and creativity which has been commented upon by two Ofsted inspectors. It is really difficult to remember what life was like before our iPads!
Please view the images, and comments below to get a flavour of the impact our iPads have had on learning at Western.
They help me enjoy and learn at the same time but I don't even realise that I'm learning.
It has made me more interested because you can create amazing thing on the iPad that you might never have thought of.
It gives me different ways to present my work.
Parents Comments on the use of iPads within school
My child's use of the iPad is extremely proficient and provides everything necessary for him, even beyond the desktop computer that I hoped he would use.
They offer a good opportunity to bring subjects to life through the clever use of Augmented Reality (e.g Dinosaurs, Space exploration etc).
They have provided a much richer array of learning options. For a boy especially this has been a significant help with motivation for reading, spelling etc.
Parents Comments on the use of Showbie
I can see what they're up to & the teachers comments. Submitting is quicker & easier. Plus they are already amazingly good at using the technology. This will help them at secondary school & later in life.
I feel much more part of my daughter’s day to day life, being able to see what she is up to and how things are explained at school.
My child has had ownership of being in control of submitting their own work which has embedded the importance of completing tasks and has also made them proud of their achievements by receiving positive feedback.
