Principles of Assessment
A combination of attitude and aptitude brings the best achievement for all children.
Last year, the government announced the demise of levels and level descriptors as a structure for assessing pupils alongside changes to the curriculum and statutory testing.
As professionals, we are very skilled at assessing the progress and attainment of all of the children in our schools. Extensive consultation has taken place within our cluster schools and as a consequence, we have decided to continue to use our current systems of assessment until we receive further guidance from the government as to how the new system will work.
We believe assessment is at the heart of teaching and learning.
We believe our assessment is fair, honest, ambitious, appropriate and consistent.
We believe assessment outcomes should provide meaningful and understandable information for pupils, parents, teachers, school leaders, governors and Ofsted.
We believe assessment feedback should inspire greater effort and a belief that through hard work and practice, more can be achieved.
We will publish a more detailed assessment framework upon receipt of further guidance from the government.
